Individual confesses to sexual crimes against young males at summer camp
An individual who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and one adult fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She said the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained Ruben went on to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not responded by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member notified the law enforcement again.
She explained Ruben then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
